NEED TO KNOW!!

  • First things first please ensure everyone in your team has watched this video, fully read the FULL EVENT DETAILS on the website and watched all the associated videos.

  • Please ensure everyone has downloaded the Smartphone App. We have our own method of using the app, if you don’t use it how we recommend it this is at your own risk. Please don’t be the one idiot who doesn’t use the SCF App correctly.

  • There are two ways your team can use the app over the weekend. First way a team representative logs all your fish via the same phone and utilises the ‘not my fish’ feature, which is explained in the how-to video, which everybody should have already watched.

  • Second way each person submits their own fish on their own device and we auto calculate everything on the back end.

  • If you have any issues with the app Steffan from ‘Info Fish Australia’ will be at the briefing to answer any questions.

  • Fishing stops at 10am on the Sunday, this means you must have your lines out of the water by 10am, and we have allowed until 10:30am for your all fish caught prior to 10am to be submitted. This buffer zone period is to help assist competitors who may have been out at the reef, in low signal areas or any potential issues with the app.

  • We encourage you to register every fish you catch as the core purpose of this event is a citizen science marine survey. We recommend you catch the fish; you immediately take the photo of the fish and then you log the fish. If you are out of range you can do this throughout the weekend, and as soon as you hit service, you can hit ‘submit all’ in your fish log and all your fish will automatically be updated. This is very important, if you do have an issue with the app please contact us immediately. People in previous events have had troubles with their app and have not notified us until only 30mins prior to the final presentations, which is an absolute nightmare for us to quickly resolve as organisers.

  • When you arrive to Beaches Restaurant for the briefing, we will require everyone to complete the correct covid check in procedure.

  • Early check in will start at 4:30pm, if you’re in town and want to grab a good spot and grab some drinks you are welcome to at this time. We want everyone else to have arrived and be fully checked in by 6pm.

  • After this we only require one person from each team to come and see the SCF officials and pick up the entry packs. Your other team members are welcome to find somewhere to sit and grab a snack and beverage etc. Keep in mind that dinner is at 7pm, so don’t eat too much!

  • Due to uncertainty with numbers in the early stage of organising we were forced to change the third person in each team’s jersey to a t-shirt. If anyone has a serious issue with that, please come and see us directly so we can do our best to sort the situation. The last thing we want to do is upset you guys as soon as you get here.

  • Please notify check in crew if you are a junior or female angler (this is important)

  • We will have a Garmin Marine presentation at 5:30pm.

  • The briefing will start at 6:30pm sharp, assuming check in’s are on time.

  • Dinner will be at 7pm, then we encourage everyone to hang around, interact and mingle with each other.

  • In each entry kit there will be three gold tokens and three black tokens. You will be required to use your gold tokens to receive your meals at the briefing and your black tokens at the presentation.

  • Teams with only two competitors are obviously entitled to use their extra tokens or give them to a friend etc.

  • Fishing commences at midnight after the briefing and will run until 10am on the Sunday.

  • SCF crew and anglers based in Yeppoon will meet for food and drinks at Beaches Restaurant each afternoon. Everyone is welcome!

  • Some of our volunteers and partners will be heading out to Great Keppel Island for a few hours, anyone who is bringing up their partners and may be spending the weekend in town are welcome to join. Please let us know at the briefing so we can all arrange a time to catch the badge over together.

  • 12pm on Sunday lunch kicks off at Beaches Restaurant where you can put your black tokens to use. We require everyone to be there prior to 1pm for the awards and presentations.

  • The major lucky draw prize from Garmin Marine will be awarded at the very end. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!

  •  Please be warned it will be hot as it is the middle of the day in summer, but we have done this to allow our interstate competitors to get home at a reasonable team if needed.

  • All prize winners must hang around for an interview after the presentation and everyone is welcome to continue celebrating at Beaches for the remainder of the evening.

  • Note if you purchased a final entry package you will not receive any jerseys and stubby coolers etc as you missed the cut off date for us to place our order. (However we managed to squeeze a few extras into some of these packs)

  • The public scoreboards will display which team is currently winning each species, these will be continuously updated on the website and via the app.

  • We encourage you to share the scoreboards with your friends and family so they can cheer you on from home.

  • We have decided to turn the scoreboards off as of 10pm Saturday night, which will hopefully make announcing the winner a lot more exciting on the Sunday.

  • SCF members will still have full access to the uncut scoreboards.

  • The junior and female scoreboards will display individual anglers, but the remainder of the public scoreboards will only show teams.

  • The best action clip award… The purpose of this award is to capture everyone’s on the water experience which later be put into a wrap up video and can then be shared with our online audience and sponsors. We do not expect people to make there own video, all we are looking for is raw footage that we utilise in our final film. DETAILS EXPLAINED ON FULL EVENT DETAILS PAGE. The winner will be chosen by Reel Destinations.

  • We have a number of different safety management plans in place for extreme weather conditions, cyclone etc. If fishing had to be completely cancelled due to safety reasons, we would still all gather at Beaches Restaurant and play a series of fishing related activities throughout the weekend and the total prize pool will still be delegated to our contestants. Final decision will be discussed at the actual briefing if necessary.

  • We encourage everyone to make the most of this opportunity to get out and interact with like-minded people who are also here for a great weekend. This is only our second Shimano King of Kings event and we’re still guaranteed to run into some small hiccups, but we’ll do our best to overcome them and we hope you guys have a great weekend.
